Rust Treatment

The floorboards of the Rambler had lots of rust so we decided to try a rust converter to prep the metal before painting. We got a gallon of Picklex 20 which wasn't cheap, but it goes far. The Picklex 20 is supposed to convert the rust to a protective coating. Sounds good! We wire brushed the rusted metal, and did two separate applications of rust converter, letting it dry completely between treatments. Here's what the floorboards looked like before:

Then we spray painted.



We still have to do the doors, dash, and other surfaces in the car, but the worst of the rust is obliterated now and we think this treatment will protect the metal for a long time.
